Love is so much more than Valentines day! It's a fun time - and a good excuse - to celebrate LOVE!
What I love most about anything handcrafted is the uniqueness and the energy of the creator which goes into every piece. When you design and create something for a special someone you imbue it with love. Even if you've bought a handcrafted piece, the artisan has infused each individual piece with the love of her craft.
This month I'm sharing a fun Valentines Key Ring pattern for you to show your love or to give to someone you love. This gorgeous design features little raised hearts in a 16 warp braid. This would also make a cute accessory for your hand bag or for those braiders wearing winter woolies at the moment, a cute zipper pull.

Whether you are a beginner or a more experienced braider, there are projects to suit. You can mix and match, and choose your own colours to ensure you enjoy your Kumihimo Braiding experience. Join me for a relaxing yet informative afternoon.
I'd love to hear your suggestions, or ideas for upcoming classes and workshops. Perhaps you'd like to learn my Freeform Braiding techniques, or how to do a different style of Kumihimo braid.
I have also scheduled some Flower Power Workshops, and if that's not enough, you can join me for beading classes.
Following on from my article on "Fine Kumihimo Braids", I am pleased to let you know that I have some stock of "Ophir" silk. This is ideal for making braids for Pendants with a small bail, or for Scissor Keepers where you want to fashion the Kumihimo Braid into a fancy knot.
To find the colours available, go to the Exotic Lights Silk thread. I have added the quantity of "Ophir" on the same pages. eg: Go to Exotic Lights - Antique Rose DL5 and you'll see that there are 2 skeins available at the Special Price of $5 per skein. The normal price is $6.60 per skein.
I start these braids with a plaited loop and finish with a Japanese knot, rather than using end caps. Of course you may prefer to use the new 4mm End Caps now in stock.
Keep an eye out! I'll do a tutorial on these in my next Kumi Kapers newsletter.
