THE FINISH Finishing your Braid Here are two simple ways to finish your new braid With a tassel With end caps To finish your braid with a tassel 1. Using a short thread, tie a slip knot around the braid close to the last point of braiding and hold the work at this point. 2. Release the threads from the slots, and remove the braid from the disc. 3. Whip around the braid with one end of the slip knot thread close to the point of braiding and secure with a knot. 4. Cut off the excess threads as far away from the whipping as you want your tassel to be. 5. Carefully comb out the strands of the threads to make the tassel If you want a tassel on both ends just follow steps 1 to 5 on the end where you had the little scrappy piece of yarn tied at the start of the braid. TIP: Decide in the beginning how you are going to finish your braid. If you choose to have a tassel on both ends remember this will shorten your braid by the length of the tassel you make. Calculate your finished length to include both tassels so you have long enough warps. To finish your braid with end caps You will need to purchase a set of end caps; these are available at most places who keep jewellery supplies. Make sure you choose a size appropriate to the thickness (diameter) of your finished braid. TIP: Take up the ends of your warps and twist them firmly together to get an idea of the thickness of your finished braid. 1. Cut off the excess threads close to the whipping. 5. Apply clear craft glue and push the end into an end cap. 6.
